Christmas Letters
Every year for Christmas, Dave sends out a letter with an update about how the year has gone. Included in those letters is always an extra story. Enjoy!
2018:
Hello,
Can you believe it, the holidays are here & another year has gone by, time to celebrate the birth of Jesus & spend time with family & friends. As always keep our family, friends & all other that are in harm's way in our thoughts and prayers.
It has certainly been a busy year here @ our place. Joe & Taylor gave birth to Miss Rylee Mae on January 14th & she is already taking steps. Gabe came to work with us about a month ago. Shelly is still here almost two years now, we are very pleased that both of them are working with us.
Susan & I celebrated our 40th anniversary November 11th Veterans Day, I told a fellow about that & he felt like I should receive some veteran benefits, Susan tells people it's been a fighting battle ever since, just can't figure out what she means by that.
This past year has been a challenging year for ranchers & farmers of all sizes. I have been very fortunate to work with many folks from small acreages to large operations. Very seldom do I hear a negative work about anything. Whatever Mother Nature sends our way they always work through it. There is no doubt in my mind these folks are the pillars of the earth. I'm very pleased & proud to say we are a small part of this.
I guess the biggest problem I have had this year is with my wife. Not sure I'll be able to work my way our of this one. I keep hearing about the DNA tests to find out about your background. So Susan got her test along with all four kids. A short time later she called and said the results came in & she was so excited. That evening when I parked the truck I saw her in my mirror & she was really upset. When I opened the door I heard the words that no husband ever wants to hear, "WE HAVE TO TALK", then she was on her way to the house.
She was furious when she read the test & said that our oldest son was not ours, we raised him but he is not ours. I thought for a second & said, well you know this is probably your fault & then I thought I probably shouldn't have said that. You remember when we brought him home from the hospital, we were on our way to the car & you said "OH SHOOT HE POOPED". You handed him to me & said go change him & I'll meet you in the car. I thought about that for a second so I took him inside & laid him down & picked up a clean one. Never really thought about it till now.
We are very pleased & proud to take this time to say to all our customers, producers & suppliers that we work with, Thank You. We appreciate each & every one of you.
As always we are pleased to say from our family to yours.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

2017:
Hello,
Can you believe it, the holidays are already here again, I have no idea where this year has gone.
Time to celebrate the birth of Jesus; spend time with family & friends. Keep our loved ones in harm’s way in our thoughts & prayers & be thankful for all that we have.
It’s certainly been a busy year here @ our place. Robert & Ashley have a new baby girl Jordyn Rose. We have been very busy with everything that is going on & have four new employees, Spiro, Shelly, Nathanial & Corie. We are pleased that they are here to help with everything that we do.
This is a very exciting time for us; we found out awhile back that we have grandbaby number seven on the way. Joe & Taylor are expecting a little girl in January. Not sure who is more excited us or Joe, Taylor & Easton because she will be a big sister.
We are pleased to be able to take this time to say Thanks to everyone that has helped support BA Livestock Hay & Feed. We take this very seriously when we say Thank You, to all the new customers that have stopped by to the folks that have been working with us for many years know, from the folks that may buy a bag of feed or a bale of hay occasionally to the established ranchers. We have great suppliers for feed & hay that we work with, some just this past year as well as those for many years know. We are very fortunate to be able to work with each & every one of you.
I have been very fortunate to stay busy with the truck. Sometimes I think I’m probably in it a bit too much. Awhile back I was on the road for a while & I had a dream that I died & went to heaven. I eased on up to the pearly gates & there was an old boy leaned up on a fence post. We visited awhile & he said Dave get in the truck & I’ll show you your new place. We drove out through the country & passed a beautiful log house setting next to a creek & I ask who lives there, he said a preacher. We went down through another holler, crossed another creek & up on this hill there set a beautiful place with a work shop & a new Peterbilt. I said who lives there & he said well this is your place.
I looked @ him & said know I’m confused, how did I get a place like this & a preacher gets a small log house next to a creek. He said Dave every time the preacher would preach he would put the congregation to sleep. It doesn’t matter where you drive you have people scared so bad their praying & looking for a church, more than anyone we’ve ever seen. That’s why you get the big house.
As always we are pleased to say from our family to yours. MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR
2016:
Hello,
Can you believe it, the holidays are here & another year has gone by Time to celebrate the birth of Jesus & spend time with family & friends. Keep our loved ones in harm’s way in our thoughts & prayers & be thankful for all that we have.
It’s been a busy year this year @ our place. We hired Dale as a part time employee to help out this year. Ashley had a successful year barrel racing, Joe & I was busy with the trucks & everything else that goes on.
In late August Joe was in a very bad accident with the silver Peterbilt, He got banged up some but walked away. Talked to some land owners from that area & they said it was a miracle he walked away from that. We are convinced the good lord was watching over him. The truck & trailer both were totaled, that is ok, will buy another truck someday when the time is right. The important thing is we still have our son & he is ok.
It’s important for this time of year to take & spend a little more time with family & friends. Just the other day I ran into an old buddy of mine & it was great to see him & his family. Spent a bit of time catching up on things & he was proud to tell me that his youngest brother just finished college & became a Meteorologist. That really caught me off guard & I thought for a second & I told him, You know that is a fitting occupation for him, Shoot he could never get anything right in school either. I’m sure he will do well.
We have so many people to thank for this year for working with us & making this year a success. Years ago a siding contractor told me that you are only as good as the worst person you work with. That is not a problem here at BA Livestock, Over the years we have surrounded ourselves with good quality employees, suppliers, producers & we feel we are certainly very fortunate & blessed to have the customers that we have.
I guess the biggest problem I have had this year is keeping up with my computer. Ashley & my son in law can certainly vouch for that. Not too long ago I had a problem & nobody to help me out. I felt that what I was working on was very important so I called an IT company to come out. Fellow showed up & in a short time had everything up & working just fine. I overheard him discussing the problem with his manager. I paid him & as he was about to leave I explained that I heard him telling his boss that the problem was an ID 10 T problem. I was curious what that meant.
The man smiled & took out his pen & he wrote this down for me so I could understand.
It stands for 1-D-10-T. Know you know why I drive the trucks & work outside all the time.
We are very pleased to take this time to say THANK YOU to all our customers, and everyone that is involved in our little company.
As always we are pleased to say From Our family to yours.
MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR
2015:
Hello,
Can you believe it, the holidays are here & another year has gone by.
Time to celebrate the birth of Jesus & spend time with family & friends. Keep our loved ones in harm’s way in our thoughts & prayers & be thankful for all that we have.
It has been a busy year here @ the Reynolds home & at BA Livestock.
On 8-1-15 we turned our hay shed into a wedding chapel. Joe & Taylor got married. What a great day that was. We are certainly pleased to welcome Taylor & our new granddaughter Easton who has had me & Susan wrapped around her little finger since the moment we seen her.
Travis & Samantha gave birth to their first baby on 3-7-15 Emmerson. Same thing, she has total control over mama & papa. I bought a sign & it hangs on the wall & says.
GRANDPARENTS, So easy to operate even a child can do it.
Jake left us to go on to school & pursue his own career.
Ashley started working full time and we are certainly pleased that she is here. She has brought a lot of new ideas & opened a lot of new doors for us. She has even set us up a Facebook. I know, I can’t believe I have a Facebook either. Check it out it’s pretty neat.
We are pleased to take this time to say THANKS to everyone who has been involved with BA Livestock Hay & Feed. From our customers who have bought Hay, Feed & Livestock from us, & the companies who has hired us for commercial trucking. We have ranchers & producers & feed companies that have supplied us with hay & feed, and folks that we have worked together for many years. Pat the book keeper who keeps me out of Jail & the mechanics who tries to keep everything around here running. We take this time very seriously to say we appreciate each & everyone & to say Thank You.
Just about everywhere I go there is a dog or two. We all love our dogs & everyone has a favorite one & a story about that particular dog.
I remember when I was young & had a rare thing called time & I liked to hunt and fish. One fall day I was going to do a little Squirrel hunting & I picked up my rifle & I walked outside & heard my little dog barking. I looked up towards the woods & he had a squirrel treed. I couldn’t believe it.
Later on that fall I cleaned my shot gun, walked outside & heard my little dog & looked around & he was chasing a Rabbit. I was amazed.
That spring the ice finally melted off of the pond so I grabbed my fishing pole & I walked outside & didn’t see my dog. I looked & couldn’t find him anywhere. I didn’t hear him & this concerned me. I finally found him out behind the wood shed. He was digging up Worms.

Hello,
Can you believe it, the holidays are already here again, I have no idea where this year has gone.
Time to celebrate the birth of Jesus, spend time with family and friends. Keep our loved ones in harm's way in our thoughts and prayers and be thankful for all that we have.
This past year has been a great year with the amount of moisture and thank goodness no fires in our area this year.
All though Miss Sue and I have had some trouble this year but, it all worked out fine.
Miss Sue decided it was time for a new car. I'm like most folks I would just as soon take a beating as to go to a dealership to look for a car. She wanted something nice but really wasn't sure what she wanted. I would have been happy with an old pickup truck as long as it ran good.
We looked all over the place and couldn't find anything that she liked. By this time all I wanted to do is find something to eat. Finally I asked her what she wanted and she was getting pretty aggravated and she said, "All I want is something purple that will do 200 in 5 seconds". I thought what in the world is this woman thinking, she must of lost her mind or going through her second youth or something. So after we ate we went home.
I looked around and a few days later I figured it out. I bought her a purple set of bathroom scales.
I can't figure it out Miss Sue didn't see any humor in that at all.
All kidding aside we are pleased to be able to take this time to say thanks and we appreciate each and everyone who has been apart of our Livestock, Hay, Feed and Trucking operation.
We hope that you all have a Merry Christmas and a Great New Year.
Merry Christmas from our Family to Yours

Hello,
Can you believe it, the holidays are here and another year has gone by.
Time to celebrate the birth of Jesus and spend time with family and friends. Keep our loved ones in harms way in our thoughts and prayers and be thankful for all that we have.
We all have a lot to be thankful for this year with the rains that came and helped with the drought situation, gave us grass for the pastures, helped with the hay production and brought the hay costs down some.
On the other hand we worry about the folks who were devastated with the fires and the floods. That was a terrible time in those folks lives. Some will be able to recover and some will never be able to recover, we need to help when we can and keep those folks in our prayers.
Well it's the Christmas season again and I'll never forget last year. It was a rare time when Susan talked me into going to the mall. We wondered into a store and naturally she was taking to long so I eased on down the way. After a while my phone started ringing, yep it was Susan wondering where on earth I was at.
Well I told her, "Susan you remember several years ago when we came out to the mall and looked at some jewelry in that small store", she kind of hesitated a moment like something was up, and said "yes". I said, " The one where you found the perfect ring that we couldn't afford at that time, and I talked you into waiting until we could afford that particular ring". Susan hesitated and I could tell there was emotions starting to stir a little and she said, "yes".
Well dear, I'm in the donut shop right next to that little jewelry store.
Well I'm here to tell you Susan didn't see much humor in that shopping trip.
All kidding aside we are pleased to be able to take this time to say thanks and we appreciate each and everyone who has been a part of our Livestock, Hay and Feed operation.
We hope that you all have a Merry Christmas and a Great New Year.

Time to celebrate the birth of Jesus and spend time with family and friends. Keep our loved ones in harms way in our thoughts and prayers and be thankful for all that we have.
As in the past couple of years our family has grown, this year we have a new son in law Travis and we are pleased to welcome him and his family into ours and recently a new granddaughter Hailey. Yep she's pretty special as well.
This has been an interesting year for sure. I had some dental problems and had to have my teeth pulled, gut up the next morning and had to put my new teeth in and just started talking. I couldn't quit talking, just talk talk talk. Then after a while I realized I had my wife's teeth. It was at the point that I had realized just how much she really does talk.
All kidding aside we are pleased to take this time to say thank you to each and everyone who has purchased hay, feed and livestock as well as the suppliers, producers and everyone that has been involved in our livestock, hay and feed operation. We are very fortunate to have all the guys that work with us on a daily basis to include; Jake, John, Buck, Curtis, Vernon, Tim, Nick our mechanic who we have gotten to know better this year, family and friends we appreciate each and everyone.
As anyone who knows me they will tell you I like to visit and often will have a story to tell and also enjoy a story as much as anyone. There is also those who will tell you that I'm full of S*** as well.
I guess that surprises me that they would think that.
My story for this year.
This good ole boy who was getting on in life & about in his mid 80’S & had lost his wife several years earlier, He went down to the local coffee shop to meet with all the other experts to talk about politics & to try A solve all the other world problems.
The good ole boy looked at his buddy’s and told them you won’t believe this, I got engaged last night & they were stunned.
One of his buddy’s said for you to get engaged I’ll bet she is beautiful why she has to be good looking. The ole boy said no, no she’s not bad looking, she is nice but not bad looking.
One of the other buddy’s said I’ll bet she has A lot of money, I’ll bet she is independently wealthy & the ole boy said no she is broke in fact she is as pore as A church mouse but SHE CAN DRIVE.

Hello,
Can you believe it, the holidays are here again, amazing how this year has flown by. Time to celebrate the birth of Jesus and spend time with family and friends, and to be thankful for all that we have & especially to keep our loved ones in harms way in our thoughts and prayers.
We have had a busy year and are very pleased to welcome our new grandson Brandon into the family. He is amazing. Oh yes, can't forget miss Marley, Sues new pup. I do believe I've been replaced.
All kidding aside, we are pleased to take this time to say thanks to all the folks that have taken their time to stop by our place to purchase hay as well the folks from out of state that has ordered hay, the producers, truck drivers, dispatchers, our family and friends, the mechanics that I've got to know all to well this year, and so many other fine folks that work with us and sill tolerates me. When I stop and think about all the folks that work with us, the amount of time and effort that everyone is willing to put into our livestock and hay operation, I am simply amazed. We sincerely say THANK YOU. We do appreciate each and everyone of you.
Anyone who knows Dave will tell you he likes to visit and often has a story to tell. Some will say he has a sense of humor and some say he's full of s***!
Here is one of my favorite stories.
Over the years of working with people, I have found that it is important to listen to people to figure out how they explain themselves and what they are trying to say. Here is a perfect example:
A man bought a few acres and moved from the city. Once he got settled in he decided it was time to buy his first horse. He was so excited. He responded to an add in the local paper and spoke to a fellow that owned the horse. The next day, he went to look at the horse. When he got there, out walked an old cowboy. As they walked up to the horse, the buyer was so excited that he said "That is the exact horse I've been looking for". The cowboy explained, "well, he is okay. He don't look so good." The buyer said "are you kidding he is perfect. They agreed on a price, loaded the horse and away the new buyer went. He was so pleased he had bought the perfect horse. After a few days, he felt the horse was settled in and should be ready for some exercise. He saddled him up and made a few laps in the round pen and the horse ran smack dab into the barn. He figured the horse was nervous, and rode some more. A short time later the horse hit the barn again. This concerned him. So he called the cowboy and explained what just happened and the cowboy said "well I told you he don't look so good!"
